Lifelong learning

I'm a big fan of lifelong learning ... a big, big fan.

I made a career change a year ago. Thanks to my ability to learn new skills and concepts I am in a much better environment.

I'm also preparing for a new environment. In a week, my husband and I will start our Big European Honeymoon. To prepare for several days in Italy, I am learning as much Italian as possible. Stretching my brain like this is good for me. It keeps me young, excited about new experiences and ready for change (because change is inevitable).

I've read about the habits of lifelong learners.

7 ½ Habits of Highly Successful Lifelong Learners
Habit 1: Begin with the end in mind
Habit 2: Accept responsibility for your own learning
Habit 3: View problems as challenges
Habit 4: Have confidence in yourself as a competent, effective
learner
Habit 5: Create your own learning toolbox
Habit 6: Use technology to your advantage
Habit 7: Teach/mentor others
Habit 7½: Play!

The easiest habit for me to follow is #1. I enjoy setting the goal. As I work toward the goal, I keep it in my mind. Reaching the end makes the process worthwhile.

The most difficult habit for me is #5. I have trouble asking for help. I know that my goal is much more important to me than it is to others. I just don't like to bother anyone.

Keep learning. Enjoy it!

Please make sure all tray tables are in their upright and locked position ...

Here we go ...
This is the first post on my first blog. It's weird. I never thought that anyone would ever want to read about all of the crazy things that pass through my head.

And here I am.
With some encouragement from the Columbus Metropolitan Library, I am posting.

Thanks for reading!
